about me

Elizabeth Robinson

I am a counsellor based in Cheshire. Let me tell you a bit more about me to see if you think I am the type of counsellor you could work with.

About me

Hi! I’m Liz. Like you, I have experienced life’s highs and lows, with many bumps along the way.

Having faced my own challenges and sought therapy at different times in my life, I understand how overwhelming life can sometimes feel and the courage and commitment it takes to work through life’s challenges and ask for support.

For me, this is one of the main reasons I decided to develop my work into counselling and therapy, as I’d experienced first-hand the positive difference that therapy can make. Therapy showed me the value of having a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where I could explore my thoughts and feelings openly. It is this experience that continues to shape the way I work with every client I meet.

I am really glad you found your way to Elizabeth Robinson Therapy. Welcome.

How I Started

My Journey

Since I began my person-centred counselling training in 2018, I have believed that every individual has the capacity for growth and change when they feel truly heard, understood and accepted. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to work alongside you, helping you explore your experiences, discover your own strengths and find a way forward that feels right for you.

Alongside private practice, I have experience working within the NHS, supporting people from a wide range of backgrounds who are facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, stress, bereavement, relationship difficulties, trauma and significant life changes. This experience has deepened my understanding that no two people experience life in the same way, which is why I tailor therapy to your individual needs rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

My work is warm, intuitive and creative. While my foundation is person-centred therapy, I also draw upon other therapeutic approaches, including CBT-informed techniques, where these may be helpful and appropriate for your individual circumstances. Together, we work at your pace, creating a therapeutic relationship built on trust, honesty and collaboration.

Beyond the therapy room

For those who feel more comfortable outside a traditional therapy room, I also offer walking therapy, which provides an opportunity to talk while walking in nature. Many people find that being outdoors helps them feel more relaxed, less self-conscious and better able to process difficult thoughts and emotions.

Walking therapy combines the benefits of counselling with the calming influence of spending time outdoors. Recognising the positive impact that nature can have on emotional wellbeing, I chose to make walking therapy one of the counselling options available through Elizabeth Robinson Therapy.

Moving Forward

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, but it can also be the beginning of meaningful and lasting change. If you feel that I may be the right therapist for you, I would be honoured to walk alongside you on that journey.
